Mark and Chantel Stoops release statement announcing divorce
The Kentucky season recently came to an end with an exciting 23-21 victory over NC State in the Gator Bowl.
Now, entering the offseason, there’s some difficult news to report out of Lexington.
Per a release, coach Mark Stoops and his wife, Chantel, are getting a divorce. Here’s what the statement said:
“It is very difficult to make an announcement about something that is so personal for our family, however, after careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce,” the statement read. “We realize that we are well-known within the community and feel we need to acknowledge this publicly. We have a deep care and respect for each other and that will continue as our family moves forward. Please be respectful of our family’s privacy during this time.”
Stoops has been at Kentucky since 2013. He has a 49-50 overall record.
Sad
Very
Coaching is apparently taking a toll on some of these families. I hate to see it.
Lots of time away from home.
Tough thing to got through. My wife and I got divorced after 22 years of marriage, after 5 years, we remarried. Two good things came out of this that people do not consider. She was there for me during my battle with stage 4 cancer, and I would not have made it without her. Also since she remarried me she can’t complain much because she knew what I was like before she did it LOL.
My wife and I have been married thirty-nine years. I coached football and baseball for the first thirty-one. You’re right about the home front. School open houses in coaching shorts and a cap. Tuck the kids in at 8:30, then grade papers of watch film until midnight.
Tidefan, hang in there, brother. Coach Stoops, God bless you and your family in this tough time.
Good for you both!
It is sad for Stoops, his wife and children as he has made a big emphasis on family during his time here. Gotta respect all parties and hope for the best for all concerned
So how much is her buyout?
