Mark Stoops is sticking with QB Terry Wilson to start the Missouri game, but how long Wilson will play will depend on how he performs.

“Terry Wilson is our starting quarterback,” Stoops said Monday at his weekly press conference. “He’s going to start this week, but we need to look at the other guys if things go poorly. We’ll work Gunnar (Hoak) pretty extensively this week as well.”

Stoops added that Wilson’s not played his best the last couple of games, but he said the blame could be shared with the coaches, offensive line and wide receivers.

“We’re all in this together,” Stoops said. “We need to play better at that position. There were times he could’ve thrown the ball and didn’t. That needs to be fixed. That I can’t defend.”

Wilson was 3-for-9 for 18 yards and a touchdown against Vanderbilt on Saturday, and 13-for-20 for 108 yards and a touchdown against Texas A&M.

Asked about how fans and others outside the program are optimistic about the rest of the season, Stoops was more cautious about this week in Columbia, Missouri.

“You have to be a moron to not realize the threat you go up against with Missouri,” Stoops said, and added that Missouri’s running backs make it difficult to sit back and wait for the passing game.

Stoops also said it’s still up for competition as to which kicker will get the next kick, but he said Chance Poore would have on Saturday. The official decision would be made after practice this week. Miles Butler has recently missed from 43 and 39 yards in his last two outings.

LB Kash Daniel had a small procedure done on his hand Monday morning but should play at Missouri with a cast or club.
