Mark Stoops was set to become the next head coach at Texas A&M, per a report from Rivals’ Mark Passwaters on Saturday night.

But now that doesn’t appear to be the case, according to conflicting reports from ESPN’s Pete Thamel and others.

Here’s a look at those tweets from top reporters who are plugged into the situations at both Texas A&M and Kentucky:

So what do we make of Passwaters’ initial report? Was he wrong? Or, like his original tweet mentioned, was there something that fell apart at the last minute?

Texas A&M fans didn’t react well to the news of the potential Stoops hire. Was this a Greg Schiano-type situation like Tennessee had a few years ago?

We’ll see what comes out about Saturday night’s news over the next few days, but for now, it appears Texas A&M’s search for Jimbo Fisher’s replacement will continue into Sunday morning, at the very least.
