One of the most questionable calls to happen in the entire bowl season happened in the Music City Bowl, when a referee ejected star Kentucky RB Benny Snell Jr. for seemingly batting his hand away when he tried to help him up.

Coach Mark Stoops was understandably upset with the call, and it changed the entire complexion of the game, which Northwestern eventually won.

During an appearance on Kentucky Sports Radio on Friday, Stoops was still fuming about the call, blasting the officials again for the “inexcusable” decision:

“The call on Benny was inexcusable,” he said. “And it absolutely — I still haven’t gotten an explanation. [The referee] obviously lied. I stand behind Benny 100% and I think it’s the worst call I’ve ever seen.

“It does me no good to lose my s-h-i-t. It does me no good to lose it like that. Believe me, you know it takes me everything to not to. So, there was a lot of things going on at the beginning of that game were aggravating and perplexing.

“What can I do? There’s really nothing I can do. You want to react in a way, but that’s going to do me no good. It’s just going to hurt me down the road in some situation. And that stinks, to be honest.”

It was a call that shouldn’t have been made, but the Wildcats will have nothing to do but try to get over it.

Snell, though, will certainly have some motivation heading into next season.
