The hits keep coming for the Kentucky Wildcats.
After back-to-back losses playing shorthanded against Alabama and Florida, Mark Stoops’ squad got some bad news on the injury front. Standout linebacker JJ Weaver has apparently torn his ACL, according to Justin Rowland of Rivals.
Rowland’s report appeared to be confirmed with a tweet by Weaver.
“Minor setback for a major comeback,” Weaver tweeted.
Through nine games, the redshirt freshman has 33 tackles, including 6.5 for loss, along with a pass breakup and 2 QB hurries.
Unfortunately, if it’s an ACL tear, Weaver may be sidelined much of the 2021 season with the injury occurring in late November. Weaver is in his redshirt freshman season.
Apparently UK linebacker JJ Weaver has a torn ACL that will require surgery. Really tough break close to the end of the year for someone who lost his dad earlier this season. Very difficult year for this team. Weaver has a great future.
