Zac Taylor is preparing to lead his Cincinnati Bengals against his former boss, Sean McVay, and the Los Angeles Rams.

But, during the buildup to the game, he also took time to discuss his connection to Kentucky coordinators Liam Coen and Brad White.

Taylor and Coen both served on the Rams’ staff under McVay, while Taylor and White played at Wake Forest together for 2 seasons:

“I think the world of Liam, I think he’s a tremendous football coach,” Taylor said. “Kentucky’s really lucky to have him. I came across Liam, I didn’t know him, but while I was at the University of Cincinnati, we were playing, I believe, Connecticut. I was watching some early tape of Connecticut and they were playing Maine, and I was remember thinking, ‘Maine’s offense is really good! Who runs this show?’ And I remember looking it up and Liam Coen’s the offensive coordinator. … He’s done a great job and he’s going to be a head coach in one of these leagues soon enough — college or pro. That’s how much I think of his football IQ and his work ethic and his relationship with his players.

“On the other side of that, the defensive coordinator, Brad White, was my host on my Wake Forest trip when I signed with Wake Forest. Brad got me to Wake Forest and we played on the same team there for 2 years. It’s awesome to see him there as well. I think it’s 2 of Rhode Island’s finest, Brad White and Liam Coen, leading the charge over there at UK.”

The Wildcats better watch out! If Taylor has any coordinator openings in the next couple of years, it sounds like he might come after Coen and White.
