LSU is the only SEC team in the mix for a top running back out of New Jersey.

On Thursday, 4-star RB Jalen Berger released a top five of LSU, Penn State, Rutgers, UCLA and Wisconsin. The Don Bosco Prep running back is listed at 6-feet, 205 pounds and rated the No. 2 New Jersey product, No. 11 running back and No. 109 prospect overall nationally for the 2020 class on the 247Sports Composite. Berger has collected 30 scholarship offers. LSU does not yet have a running back in its 2020 class of 21 (19 signees plus 2 verbal commitments).

247Sports’ Brian Dohn sees the NFL in Berger’s future:

Great frame for running back or safety. Carries 205 pounds like 190. Smooth and athletic. Looks effortless and plays with great body control. Hits hole with purpose and accelerates through it quickly. Plays faster than 40 time of 4.6 seconds. Has breakaway speed. Quick feet and loose hips make him elusive in open field. Can line up at receiver or slot. Needs to add upper body strength. Running with lower pad level important. Becoming more physical is a must. Major contributor at a top program. Mid-round NFL draft pick.
