Angel Reese and LSU earned their rematch with Iowa after beating UCLA 78-69 in the Sweet 16 on Saturday.

Fans are bursting at the seams with excitement ahead of Monday’s matchup. The two teams met in the national championship last season with LSU pulling away for a 102-85 win.

Reese and Caitlin Clark treated fans to a great game this time last year and many people hope to see a similar performance in the Elite 8. Reese finished last year’s showdown with a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds. Clark dropped 30 points with 8 assists despite getting into early foul trouble.

The pair even had some controversy after the game, with Reese hitting a John Cena celebration in the final seconds of the game. We’ll have to wait and see if the two go after each other again until Monday.

The Tigers escaped their 1st game of the NCAA Tournament with a 70-60 win over Rice. LSU gave fans a taste of what they’re used to seeing in the 2nd game, beating MTSU 83-56. Reese has been a factor for LSU in March, scoring 10 points or more in each tournament game so far.

Iowa hasn’t had too much resistance on its way to the Elite 8. The Hawkeyes moved past Holy Cross in the 1st round with ease in a 91-65 win. Iowa advanced to the Sweet 16 after downing West Virginia 64-54.

Clark and her squad secured a spot in the Elite Eight Saturday after beating Colorado 89-68. Clark hasn’t missed a beat in March either, with her lowest scoring total at 27 in the tourney, though her 3-point shooting has been erratic at times.

A trip to the Final Four will be at stake for both LSU and Iowa on Monday. The showdown is set for 7 pm ET on ESPN. Fans can check out the latest odds and trends for that matchup with SDS’s Louisiana sportsbook apps.
