Brian Kelly addresses LSU's QB situation entering 2023, including transfer portal potential
Brian Kelly faces a good problem at LSU heading into the 2023 season. He simply has too many good quarterbacks on his roster.
Jayden Daniels, the starter in 2022, will return to Baton Rouge after guiding the Tigers to 10 wins this year.
Meanwhile, Garrett Nussmeier and Walker Howard, who both played in LSU’s 63-7 beatdown of Purdue in Monday’s Citrus Bowl, are also expected back in 2023.
After the big win, Kelly said Daniels is the unquestioned No. 1 QB at LSU entering 2023, but added that Nussmeier will have a chance to show what he can do:
"There's no quarterback controversy. Jayden is the No. 1 quarterback. Garrett will get a chance to compete, though."
Kelly says the plan was always to have Garrett Nussmeier come in on the third drive, and then they'd see how it goes. #LSU

Kelly also added that he expects Daniels, Howard and Nussmeier to all be present for spring practices:
#LSU Transfer Portal Update:
Brian Kelly said he and his staff have spoken with Jayden Daniels, Garrett Nussmeier and Walker Howard and he expects all three QBs to remain on roster for spring ball this off-season.

Daniels will likely enter 2023 with some Heisman buzz, but Nussmeier also looks like a potential star in the making.
It’ll be interesting to see how Kelly plans to use his trio of talented quarterbacks in 2023.
