LSU first-year head coach Brian Kelly has announced the 2022 Tigers football team captains. Senior defensive end Ali Gaye, junior defensive end B.J. Ojulari, and junior linebacker Mike Jones Jr. have been announced as the captains.

Gaye was a second-team All-SEC selection as he accounted for 32 total tackles, 19 solo tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, and six pass breakups in the 2020 season. He suffered a season-ending injury in the game against Kentucky.

Ojulari was a player that accounted for a breakout season last year as he accumulated 54 total tackles, 31 solo tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and seven sacks. Ojulari is rated as No. 25 on ESPN NFL Draft analyst Todd McShay’s top 50 preseason prospects for the 2023 NFL Draft.

 

Jones, a former Clemson transfer, enters his second season at LSU after he settled in as a middle linebacker for the Tigers during the spring. He’s played both inside and outside linebacker as well as nickel back during his college career
