Brian Kelly met with reporters on Thursday morning and covered several topics as the Tigers prepare to start spring practice.

Kelly addressed the reported 3 permanent opponents that would be on LSU’s schedule in 2024 and beyond. Those teams are currently expected to be Alabama, Texas A&M and Ole Miss.

Despite the strength of all 3 programs, Kelly did not have any complaints about the proposed schedule.

“It’s not something I’ve thought much about, because playing SEC opponents, that’s why I came here,” Kelly said. “So I come at it from a different perspective.”

Kelly’s comments are a stark contrast to what Alabama head coach Nick Saban said earlier this month.

“I’ve always been an advocate for playing more [conference] games,” Saban said last week. “But if you play more games, I think you have to get the three fixed [opponents] right. They’re giving us Tennessee, Auburn and LSU. I don’t know how they come to that [decision].”

Kelly is entering his 2nd season as LSU’s head coach. The Tigers went 10-4 and won the SEC West in 2022.
