Brian Kelly insists John Emery Jr. is in ‘much better position’ in 2023 compared to previous seasons

LSU had to work without running back John Emery Jr in the season opener against Florida State and once again last week against Grambling.
But he’s slowly working his way back onto the field after spending most of the offseason away from the program focusing on academics. Earlier this month Kelly told reporters that Emery is in good standing with the university and should return for Week 3 against Mississippi State.
And Kelly is high on where Emery stands physically heading into his first game of the season.
“He is in a much better position this year, than he was last year. He was on scout team the last three weeks, and ready to go.” Kelly also mentioned that Emery is not limited by conditioning and is healthy both physically and mentally.
Emery had a good 2022 with the Tigers and could be an X-factor this season. He totaled 375 rushing yards with 6 touchdowns for LSU in 2022.
The Tigers open SEC play this Saturday as they travel to Starkville to take on the Bulldogs at Noon ET on ESPN.
This should be a fun one.
