Brian Kelly has gotten to know his team well enough that he sees LSU players adjusting well to the transition from Ed Orgeron, to the former Notre Dame coach.

“What we’ve done really well is there’s been a buy-in,” Kelly said on the SEC coaches media teleconference. “It’s hard, every day you have a new way of doing things, a new way of thinking. Change is hard. It’s hard for me. … They’ve embraced it and that’s what I’ve liked about it. They want to be the best versions of themselves. … Their want to be champions is really high.”

One of those key players is Kayshon Boutte, who is one of the best wide receivers in the country this season. In only 16 career games, has scored 14 touchdowns, and has at least one reception in each game he’s appeared. Boutte has 83 career receptions for 1,244 yards.

“I think he’s rounded himself into playing shape,” Kelly said. “Obviously the injury put him in a situation where we had to be careful with him during summer training. … He committed himself into our training room and I think he’s in a position now where he can have a great season. He’s got explosiveness. He can catch the long ball, break tackles. He’s an all-around receiver from all those facets.”
