LSU opened training camp to some troubling news as it was announced by Ed Orgeron that returning starter Ed Ingram had been suspended indefinitely by the team. Orgeron would not comment further, aside from noting that Ingram would not be participating in any of LSU’s training camp.

Ingram started the final 12 games at right guard for the Tigers last season and he repped over 700 snaps for the team as a true freshman. In recent days, Orgeron has declined to discuss why Ingram was away from the team, saying only that “legal matters” where keeping him away.

Now we know what those legal matters are as Brooks Kubena of The Advocate is reporting that Ingram was arrested on two counts of aggravated sexual assault in early August. Ingram is a native of DeSoto, Texas and his arrest came in Dallas County on Aug. 2, before the start of LSU’s current training camp.

The alleged incident Ingram is accused of being involved in occurred before he ever arrived at LSU — back in August of 2017. The investigation into that case is ongoing and reportedly involves a minor.

Following initial news of his suspension, Ingram issued this tweet to his supporters:

LSU has yet to release an official statement following this update. SDS will keep you posted if the school issues a statement.
