Ed Orgeron announces procedure done on Derek Stingley Jr., star cornerback vows return
Ed Orgeron announced that Derek Stingley Jr. had surgery to repair a foot injury, and the timetable for his return is unknown, but Stingley has vowed it will be this season.
The All-America cornerback for LSU is considered one of the top NFL Draft prospects for next year, and widely viewed as the No. 1 cornerback in the class.
“I’m doing all I can to return to the field as soon as possible,” Stingley said in a statement released by LSU. “I want to finish out the season with my teammates and I will do everything I can to get healthy so that I will be able to play again this year.”
Stingley has played in 3 games this season for LSU so far, and has made 8 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble 3 weeks ago that led to a scoop-and-score by defensive end Andre Anthony. He has not played in the last 2 games as he’s missed time because of the foot injury.
