Ed Orgeron isn’t afraid of elite competition, by now, we all should know that.

So how does LSU’s coach view the expected expansion of Texas and Oklahoma to the Southeastern Conference?

No surprise, he sees opportunity in the move.

LSU already had a strong presence in the Lone Star State as nine members of the current team hail from Texas and recent Tiger standouts such as Grant Delpit and K’Lavon Chaisson came to Baton Rouge from the state before moving on to the NFL.

The way Orgeron sees things, that trend will only continue with the Longhorns and Sooners headed to the SEC.

“I do believe it’s good. This is becoming a superconference,” Orgeron said according to Brody Miller of The Athletic. “I think it’s going to open up some areas in recruiting … I think it’s maybe going to open their eyes a little.”

One common theme among players and coaches when asked about Texas and Oklahoma moving to the SEC, they all offer their sympathies to the Longhorns and Sooners. These coaches and players seem to realize that Texas and Oklahoma better be ready to step up their games.

If not, they will quickly find themselves treading water in the SEC.
