As doubted as Ed Orgeron and his LSU team were heading into the season, all they’ve done is put together arguably the country’s best resume.

After the Tigers’ biggest win yet, Orgeron received some well-deserved recognition.

Orgeron was named the Dodd Trophy National Coach of the Week for LSU’s emphatic 36-16 win against then-No. 2 Georgia, the school announced Tuesday.

The Tigers entered last Saturday’s game ranked No. 13 and on the heels of their first loss of the season. But LSU looked every bit like a national championship contender in its dismantling of the Bulldogs, who surrendered 475 yards and committed four turnovers.

Orgeron clearly had the Tigers ready to play, but his decisions were just as were influential on the outcome of the game — LSU converted all four of its fourth-down conversion attempts.
