The coaching carousel did a number on the LSU staff with Dave Aranda leaving for Baylor and Joe Brady leaving for the Carolina Panthers being the headlining departures out of Baton Rouge.

The Tigers found Aranda’s defensive coordinator replacement in former assistant Bo Pelini. During his National Signing Day press conference, head coach Ed Orgeron was asked to offer an update on the search for Brady’s replacement. After hitting the jackpot with hiring Brady off the New Orleans Saints staff, Orgeron is looking to the NFL again.

“We’re looking at the NFL primarily,” Orgeron said. “We’re looking for different ideas. We’re looking for things that can add to an already great offense. I don’t need to make a decision until before spring ball.”

Orgeron said that only one interview has been conducted so far, but there are more to come.

“The guy that comes in, whoever we hire, is going to have to know our system very well or teach us something different,” Orgeron said. “We’re trying to grow, but also trying to retain the knowledge we learned from Joe (Brady) and the Saints.”

One person who has established familiarity with the offense is Jorge Munoz. An analyst with LSU last year, Munoz followed Aranda to Baylor to be the Bears’ wide receivers coach, but Orgeron said he’s still a candidate to be Brady’s replacement.
