As expected, there are some LSU players already jumping into the transfer portal after the firing of Ed Orgeron, and one of those players is cornerback Elias Ricks. Ricks was one of the top defensive backs coming out of high school before he signed with LSU.

Ricks told 247 Sports that it was a hard decision to make, but it was one he needed to make.

“Ed Orgeron was the main reason why I committed to LSU out of high school,” he said. “He’s my guy, that’s the coach I’ve known since I was 10 years old. I first met him at a USC camp and we had an instant connection and a great relationship ever since.”

Along with Ohio State and USC, Ricks is considering 2 SEC schools — Alabama and Georgia.

Ricks seems to have already had an established relationship with one Alabama player and that’s quarterback Bryce Young, whom the young defensive back says he’s been in contact with recently.

“I just talked to Bryce yesterday about how he likes it, the area, the city and all of that. It’s a great program with a great track record of developing defensive backs and getting them drafted. With Bama, I know it’s competitive there but I’m a competitive guy and I’m going to be ready to compete wherever I go.”

Ricks also likes Georgia’s style of play but has yet to be in contact with head coach Kirby Smart, but he expects that to change after the SEC Championship Game is played.
