LSU is losing a talented defensive back prior to the 2017 season as former 4-star recruit Saivion Smith has announced his plans to transfer via his Twitter account.

Smith was rated a 4-star prospect out of Bradenton, Fla.’s prestigious IMG Academy. 247 Sports rated Smith the No. 48 overall prospect and No. 5 cornerback in the class of 2016. He committed to LSU in February 2015 after being recruited by defensive backs coach Corey Raymond and current head coach Ed Orgeron.

In post-spring evaluations, Smith appeared most likely to see playing time this fall when LSU entered its dime package.
