For the second year in a row, Atlanta Falcons DB Jalen Collins has been suspended by the NFL for a violation of the league’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

Last year, the former LSU standout missed the first four games of the season. This year, he faces a 10-game suspension.

After news of the suspension broke on Sunday, Collins responded on Monday afternoon, apologizing for his actions and acknowledging that he let a lot of people down:

In a statement released on Sunday, Atlanta general manager Thomas Dimitroff said the team is disappointed in the young player:

“We are extremely disappointed that for the second straight season we are dealing with a suspension for Jalen,” Dimitroff said. “Such are the consequences when certain choices are made. Our decisions going forward will be based on what Dan (Quinn) and I feel is best for the team.”

In his limited action last season, Collins was actually a productive defender, recording two interceptions and 28 tackles. He’ll be eligible to come off the suspension list on Nov. 21, but it remains to be seen if he’ll be able to be productive after an even longer suspension to start this year.
