Though Danny Etling hasn’t played a snap for the New England Patriots this season, he’s still maturing as a quarterback.

In a video tweeted by the New England on Tuesday, the former LSU signal-caller shed some light on what he has been able to gather as a member of the team’s practice squad this year.

“I’ve learned a lot so far,” Etling said. “They give me different tasks and different jobs to do. For the most part, I’ve just been able to sit there and learn exactly what game day will be like. The attitude on the sidelines, adjusting to different things in the NFL.

“I get to watch two pretty great quarterbacks in front of me prepare for the game, how they react to things on the sideline, how they adjust. It’s been a blessing, and I’m so thankful for it.”

The Patriots selected Etling in the seventh round of last year’s NFL draft, and he made a bit of noise during the preseason. His biggest moment came when he kept a read-option and scampered for an 86-yard touchdown against the New York Giants in New England’s final preseason game.

The team ultimately cut Etling on Sept. 1 before adding him to their practice squad the following day. The former Tiger has remained active with the team, traveling to road games and participating in quarterback meetings.

Etling earned praise from backup quarterback Brian Hoyer, coach Bill Belichick and director of player personnel Nick Caserio, who all appeared in the video. Etling touched on a handful of topics, including what it’s been like to learn behind Tom Brady.
