Garrett Nussmeier has been at LSU since 2021. In 2024, the quarterback finally became the Tigers’ full-time starter and threw for 3,739 yards and 26 touchdowns.

With the regular season over, many wondered whether Nussmeier would enter the 2025 NFL Draft. This QB draft class is expected to be weak, so Nussmeier might be considered highly by NFL teams. However, the LSU quarterback put all the draft chatter to rest on Wednesday when he posted a video on social media talking about his plans for next season.

Nussmeier revealed that he will return to LSU for his final year of eligibility and forego the NFL Draft.

Nussmeier began the video by talking about his relationship with God and discussing his favorite scriptures. Then, he revealed that he isn’t quite done yet with the Tigers.

“I feel like my time at LSU is not over,” said the veteran QB. “I am officially announcing that I am returning for my final year of eligibility and I am fully committed to bringing this university a championship.”

Nussmeier threw for 3,739 yards with 26 TDs and 11 interceptions in 2024. The QB helped the Tigers finish with the No. 8 passing offense in the country and the No. 29 total offense. It was always going to be hard for Nussmeier to live up to Jayden Daniels from 2023, but the QB had a fine season nonetheless.

The Tigers finished the regular season with an 8-4 record, which was disappointing for a team that had College Football Playoff aspirations. In his announcement, Nussmeier acknowledged that a championship is the ultimate goal.

“My teammates, coaches, and the fans will get the absolute best out of me until we complete that goal,” Nussmeier said. “Go Tigers.”
