Jaquelin Roy has been a member of the LSU program for 3 seasons. The Baton Rouge product was a former 4-star recruit from University Laboratory School, just a short walk from the LSU campus, and was considered the No. 6 defensive tackle in the class of 2020 when he signed with the Tigers.

Despite having 2 years of eligibility remaining, Roy now has his eyes set on the professional ranks. He announced on his Twitter account on Tuesday that he would declare for the NFL Draft, posting a heartfelt “thank you” message:

Roy was an immediate contributor for the Tigers upon his arrival, playing in 9 games in 2020 while making 18 tackles, 4.0 tackles for a loss, and 2.0 sacks. He was credited with 30 tackles and 6.0 TFLs in 2021, earning 1 start and appearing in all 13 games. In 2022, his 3rd season, he made 49 tackles and 3.5 stops for a loss, starting all but 1 game.

Roy did not mention whether or not he would play in the Citrus Bowl against Purdue. That matchup is set for Jan. 2.
