Jayden Daniels got used to having big nights while he dazzled college football fans at LSU.

He won the Heisman Trophy and just about every other award a college quarterback could win in 2023. Then the Washington Commanders selected Daniels with the 2nd overall pick in the 2024 draft.

They put their trust in the LSU legend, and on Monday night, in just his 3rd career NFL game, Daniels showed Washington and the NFL world that he might be the real deal. The Cincinnati Bengals would probably agree, after Daniels carved up the Bengals, passing for 254 yards on a ridiculous 21-of-23 passing.

Daniels’ completion percentage of 91.3 set a new rookie record in a game where the player attempted at least 20 passes. Daniels recorded 2 touchdown passes, didn’t throw an interception, and he added 39 rushing yards and a rushing score on 12 carries.

With all those glossy numbers in a 38-33 victory in Cincinnati that lifted the Commanders into a 1st-place tie in the NFC East, Daniels was the highest-rated quarterback of Week 3 by Pro Football Focus, which graded Daniels out with a 95.9 rating.

Clearly, Daniels won the battle of former LSU Heisman-winning quarterbacks on Monday Night Football, as he outdueled former Tigers legend Joe Burrow in his own stadium.

Burrow threw for 324 yards and 3 touchdowns, not too shabby either, but the Bengals were playing catchup all night against Daniels and the Commanders, and it wasn’t enough.

It was Daniels’ night, and he might just be getting started.
