LSU finally slayed the dragon, defeating Alabama in convincing fashion last Saturday.

With the victory has come a lot of celebrating, including quite a bit of trash talking from ESPN analysts and former LSU football players Booger McFarland, Marcus Spears and Ryan Clark. On Wednesday, Clark was screaming with an LSU football helmet on his head at the end of one of the network’s afternoon shows.

The LSU football Twitter account saw video of that and tweeted about it Thursday morning. That caught the eye of ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit, who then took to Twitter to rain on the LSU parade just a little.

“Big win for the Tigers,” Herbstreit wrote in a tweet. “And I get the excitement. But man, I truly hope the players aren’t doing the same victory lap as your boys on air. There’s WAY BIGGER games ahead for this squad. Need to keep that foot on the gas Tigers. Block out THE NOISE!!!”

In defense of Clark and the other proud LSU alums, they are just having some fun. If they were still players, they wouldn’t be acting like this. Essentially, Clark, McFarland and Spears are now LSU fans with television microphones.

But Herbstreit still has a point. If LSU reads too much of its own press, there is a chance the team could lose its edge. Check out Herbstreit’s response to the LSU football’s tweet of Clark’s video below:
