The weekend ended on an incredibly high note for Tiger fans as LSU announced late Sunday evening that All-SEC performer Arden Key would be returning to the team Monday. The team also announced the linebacker recently underwent successful surgery.

The team’s best pass rusher took a leave of absence from the program this offseason and missed the entire spring in Baton Rouge. Key was a first-team All-SEC player following his outstanding 2016 campaign. In his LSU career, Key has racked up 97 tackles, 21 tackles for loss and 17 sacks.

“Arden had shoulder surgery and everything went as planned,” head coach Ed Orgeron said via an official school release. “We are looking forward to having Arden rejoin the team tomorrow (Monday).”

Despite missing the Texas A&M game last season, he was suspended for the game, 6-foot-6, 238-pound Key managed to set LSU’s single-season sack record by registering 12 sacks as a sophomore. This offseason, Pro Football Focus rated Key as the SEC’s best overall returning player.
