LSU will have some program greats on hand as guest captains on Saturday for the Ole Miss game, and the Louisiana natives have plenty of history against the Rebels.

Kevin Faulk, Eric Reid, Bert Jones and Dalton Hilliard will be the guest captains.

In 1972, Jones led the Tigers to a last-second game-winning touchdown when he found Brad Davis in the corner of the endzone for the winner over Ole Miss, a victory that kept LSU’s undefeated record intact at 7-0.

Jones became LSU’s first consensus All-America quarterback in 1972 when he threw for a school-record 1,446 yards and 14 touchdowns in leading the Tigers to a 9-2-1 mark and a berth in the Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl. Jones was named the National Player of the Year in 1972 by the Sporting News and finished fourth in the Heisman Trophy balloting following the season, according to his LSU bio.

Hilliard in the early 1980s rushed for more than 4,000 yards and 44 touchdowns, and was a three-time first-team All-SEC selection for the Tigers.

Kevin Faulk, who is LSU’s all-time rushing leader and three-time Super Bowl Champion, is in his second season on the staff as the running backs coach. Faulk, who remains LSU’s all-time leader in rushing yards (4,557) and rushing TDs (46), starred in the backfield for the Tigers from 1995-98, helping LSU to three bowl appearances over that span. Faulk earned All-America honors from the Associated Press in 1996 as well as being a three-time All-SEC selection.

Reid finished his career in 2012, and was an All-America safety who opted to forgo the final year at LSU to enter NFL Draft. He played in 39 games with 29 starts during his 3 years with the Tigers, and finished his career with 194 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and six interceptions.
