While Joe Burrow is clearly LSU’s starting quarterback for the rest of this season, it’s possible that the Tigers’ offense could be led by Myles Brennan, currently a redshirt sophomore, when Burrow is gone in 2020.

Brennan has received limited playing time the past three seasons, including this year, but he also provides depth for LSU at quarterback. If anything happened to Burrow, Brennan would likely step in. This season is all about getting Brennan experience in LSU’s new offense so that he’s groomed in taking over for Burrow next season.

However, on Tuesday, Brennan was not at Tigers practice, according to Brooks Kubena of The Advocate. Of course, whenever a player misses practice, two things are typically speculated about — injury or transfer. Players also miss practice due to academic reasons, too.

More information should be reported as the week progresses.

Brennan has played three games for LSU this season, going 16-for-25 for 207 yards with no touchdowns and one interception. His best showing came against Northwestern State on Sept. 14, when he went 8-for-9 for 115 yards.

Brennan was a 4-star recruit who was one of the top quarterbacks in the 2017 class, so he has the potential to develop into a strong college quarterback. It’s just a matter of when he’ll have the opportunity to lead the offense.
