News broke Wednesday that LSU defensive tackle Siaki “Apu” Ika is entering the NCAA transfer portal. Entering the portal does not bound a player to depart, but judging by a teammate’s tweet, it looks like Ika will be continuing his college football career elsewhere.

“Much love you to my brother, a great young man as well a great football player. Can’t wait to see what your future holds lil bro, God has a plan for you and I’m glad I got to build a brotherhood relationship with you that we will have for the rest of our lives,” Tigers defensive end Neil Farrell Jr. wrote in a quote-tweet of a story on Ika entering the transfer portal.

Ika played in 13 games at nose tackles as a true freshman in 2019, recording 17 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss. This season, he has recorded statistics in two Tigers games. Ika recorded 3 tackles, including one for loss, at Vanderbilt on Oct. 3. He had 2 tackles in Saturday’s win over South Carolina.

A native of Salt Lake City, Utah, Ika signed with LSU during the Early Signing Period for 2019. He chose Orgeron’s Tigers on Dec. 19, 2018, after visiting Florida the weekend of Dec. 14, 2018. As an uncommitted prospect, he also took visits to Oregon (Nov. 3, 2018) and Utah (Dec. 7, 2018).

Ika was rated 4-stars, the No. 2 recruit in Utah, No. 13 defensive tackle and No. 138 prospect overall nationally in the class of 2019 on the 247Sports Composite. In addition to the schools mentioned above, he had 16 other scholarship offers, including Alabama, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.
