After a national championship season in 2019 that saw its offense rewrite the record books, LSU fans approached this season with cautious optimism after losing several pieces from last year’s squad.

So, after a season-opening loss to Mississippi State at Death Valley, the reaction on social media was sure to be well-reasoned and rational, right?

Not quite.

Tiger fans weren’t thrilled with its secondary—albeit missing Derek Stingley Jr.—being carved up by K.J. Costello during a SEC record-breaking performance. A smattering of them took to Twitter to unleash their frustration, ranging from calling for their defensive coordinator to be fired after 1 game while pining for Arch Manning to somehow be eligible to play college football despite being a sophomore in high school.

Fortunately for LSU, it will travel to play Vanderbilt on Saturday in a game where it should be an overwhelming favorite to go 1-1 and get back on the winning side. Kickoff in Nashville is set for 7:30pm ET.
