LSU has to pay an SEC fine after fans stormed the court Wednesday night.

The conference announced a fine of $100,000 for a first offense under the league’s revised access to competition area policy that was adopted at the SEC Spring Meetings in 2023. A second offense brings $250,000 a fine which increases to $500,000 for a third offense and any subsequent offenses.

LSU certainly considers the fine worth it for a big win. The Tigers were on the verge of heartbreak as a 73-69 lead turned into a 74-73 deficit in the final minute. On the final possession, though, Jordan Wright was able to recover his blocked shot and dish to Tyrell Ward just in time for a bucket before the buzzer.

Tari Eason and Angel Reese were among those caught up in the commotion of the big night.

LSU is trying to close strong in what has been an up-and-down 2023-24 season. A two-game winning streak has the Tigers at 14-12 overall and 6-7 in conference play.

The Bayou Bengals have two more home games before the next road trip. Up next is Mississippi State Saturday night (8:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. CT) at the PMAC.
