On Wednesday morning, it was reported that LSU AD Joe Alleva would be stepping down from his role as the university’s athletic director.

Now, it appears that move is official, as LSU released a statement, including a comment from president F. King Alexander, on Wednesday evening.

Per a release from the school, Alleva will serve as the AD until a replacement is found. Then, he’ll transition to a new role as “special assistant to the president for donor relations.”

“We are grateful to Joe for his years of service and dedication to LSU,” said LSU President F. King Alexander. “Under his leadership, LSU Athletics has become even more nationally competitive and our student-athletes have reached new levels of academic achievement.”

Alleva also issued a statement, saying his years in Baton Rouge have been some of the best in his life:

“The eleven years Annie and I have been here in Baton Rouge have been some of the best in our lives,” said Alleva. “We have made lifelong friends and memories in Louisiana. This is truly a special place. It’s been an honor to serve LSU, and I am proud to continue to do that in a new role.”

The Tigers are going after Texas A&M AD Scott Woodward, per reports, but it is unclear as of now if he’ll take the job.
