LSU landed a huge commitment on Saturday in more ways than one.

Coach Ed Orgeron’s program picked up a pledge from Will Campbell of Monroe, Louisiana (Neville). Campbell is listed at 6-foot-6 and 285 pounds. He is a 4-star offensive tackle recruit, and rated the No. 6 offensive tackle in the Class of 2022, and the No. 2 player overall in Louisiana. He had a reported 36 offers, including Alabama, Oklahoma and Notre Dame.

Campbell is LSU’s first offensive tackle commitment for the 2022 recruiting class, and he’s currently ranked by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 56 overall prospect. He is the eighth prospect in LSU’s class, and second-highest rated recruit behind QB Walker Howard. Five of the eight players are from Louisiana.

Geaux247 reported that Campbell is the highest-ranked offensive lineman to come out of Louisiana since West Monroe’s Cam Robinson in the 2014 class. Before Robinson, La’el Collins was the highest-ranked offensive tackle prospect out of Louisiana as part of a deep 2011 class. Both Robinson and Collins are now starters in the NFL after successful college careers, and both finished as 5-stars on the 247Sports Composite rankings.
