Louisiana official: Let Luke Boyd play
LSU walk-on senior Luke Boyd isn’t your ordinary defensive back. On top of being a member of LSU’s football team, he’s also an active-duty Marine, runs an ROTC program and, of course, is a full-time student. Boyd was honored on Senior Day against Alabama, greeted by his wife and daughter, but he has yet to appear in a game for the Tigers. One Louisiana official would like to see that change
The state’s Secretary of Veteran Affairs, David LaCerte, wrote a letter to LSU coach Les Miles and members of the football staff, asking them to get Boyd into the Tigers’ game against Texas A&M on Thanksgiving.

In the letter, LaCerte says that Boyd has been an inspiration to other veterans and that seeing a few snaps of action would be a great reward not just to Boyd but to all of his supporters as well.
Earlier this week, Boyd tweeted that he found out he’ll have 21 days of eligibility next season, asking fans if they thought he should petition for a full year.
Official word on eligibility. I have 21 days of next season available..should I ask for an extension for the whole season…? #OneMoreSeason
