This is the stuff legends are made of.
LSU beat South Carolina 6-4 Thursday night in 12 innings. The story of the win-or-go-home game came in the top of the 12th inning as LSU reliever Todd Peterson blasted a two-run double instead of being pinched hit for. He apparently told head coach Paul Mainieri that he hit in high school.
So, LSU sent him to the plate, and he belted a massive hit. South Carolina ended up scoring a run in the bottom of the 12th, too.
In his first at-bat for @LSUbaseball, Todd Peterson just hit a two-run double in the 12th inning.

Following the win, Peterson had the best post-game interview ever, too, saying he went up there trying to “go yard.”
OH BABY! @Todd_Peterson3 stepped up big time for the Tigers tonight in extras!

But it gets even better. During the post game press conference, Peterson confessed to his head coach that he never hit in high school and he lied to him. Coach Mainieri handled it in spectacular fashion.
Oh my God. Todd Peterson just informed Paul Mainieri he lied about hitting in high school #LSU pic.twitter.com/mvs73F1i65
