LSU has made several changes to its coaching staff recently, and that included transitioning offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger to an analyst role. Ensminger, who has been on the Tigers’ staff since 2010 and had been OC since 2018, is retiring from on-field coaching.

Ensminger has a lot of history with LSU, considering he’s a native of Baton Rouge, La., and he played quarterback for the Tigers from 1976-79. And while he’s still going to have a role with the program, somebody else will be the offensive coordinator moving forward.

On Thursday, LSU shared a video on Twitter honoring Ensminger for his accomplishments with the program:

It’s not a surprise that LSU made changes to its staff, as the 2020 season was a tough one for the Tigers. A year after going 15-0 and winning the national title, LSU went 5-5, salvaging a .500 record with wins over Florida and Ole Miss in its final two games.

Although Ed Orgeron remains the Tigers’ head coach, he’ll have some new assistants working for him next season. Perhaps that will help them get back on track following a down year.

LSU’s 2020 season is now over, as the program self-imposed a one-year bowl ban following the NCAA’s investigation into improper booster payments to Tigers players.
