Maason Smith, star LSU DL, provides update on return from injury

Maason Smith suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 1 against Florida State to kick off the 2022 campaign.
That was a big loss for the Tigers’ defense, as LSU was counting on Smith to be a force in the middle of its defensive line.
But Smith is working his way back from the knee injury and hopes to be back at full strength soon. On Sunday, Smith revealed on Instagram that he has been fully cleared to return to football activities:
“the takeover begins,” Smith’s caption reads. “FULLY CLEARED.”
Smith played in 7 games as a freshman in 2021, recording 19 tackles (5 for a loss) and 4.0 sacks. His 2022 season ended before he could record any stats against Florida State in a Week 1 loss.
