Matt House applauds LSU's cornerbacks, as concern turns into strength
Matt House spoke to reporters on Friday, and the LSU defensive coordinator spoke about the depth at cornerback, something that has become a stronger area after there were questions about it this offseason.
House counted 6 players in the mix, including 4 veterans and 2 younger guys.
“We’ve got great competition there,” House said. “… I see that being just that, continuing competition. We’re going to evaluate it again after the game Saturday. But a position we were a little bit concerned about the depth coming in has kind of been a position that’s developed into almost a strength. I’m excited to see where that goes, and I love the competition that’s being bred there, and those guys, I love their approach every day.”
At linebacker, House said Micah Baskerville, who has been a steady starter for nearly two years, is a versatile player who can contribute at all 3 positions.
“He’s a very intelligent player, just need to see him keep applying the physical part of the game,” House said. “Which he’s doing a good job growing from there.”
