Matt Ryan joined CBS Sports HQ to break down his top five quarterbacks in the 2024 NFL Draft, and he ranked LSU’s Jayden Daniels as his No. 3 overall prospect. The former Atlanta Falcons quarterback explained that the Heisman Trophy winner draws Lamar Jackson comparisons for good reason and that he will certainly be keeping his eye on how Daniels develops.

“Caleb [Williams] is a clear No. 1, Drake [Maye} is a clear No. 2. But, to me, this is the most intriguing prospect,” Ryan said. “He throws the football down the field with effortless power, but if you can get him in the right situation with his ability to run, he is dynamic.”

Ryan believes that Daniels’ skill set will translate well to the NFL, in large part because the role of a QB has changed in the NFL.

“The position has changed,” Ryan said. “What is asked of the position has changed in the past 4-5 years, and his [Daniels] skill set makes him the most intriguing prospect in this draft.”

Fresh off a Heisman campaign in which he threw for 3,812 yards, ran for 1,134 more and accounted for 50 total touchdowns, Daniels is now preparing for the NFL Combine in April.
