All of a sudden — coming off back-to-back wins, South Carolina looks like a formidable opponent for LSU heading into this weekend’s matchup in Baton Rouge.

Adding to LSU’s issues, starting quarterback Myles Brennan, one of the few highlights for the Tigers during the first three games of the season, is questionable to play against the Gamecocks.

During his Monday press conference, Ed Orgeron shared that Brennan would not have played last weekend against Florida (that game was postponed due to Florida having several COVID positive tests) and that his QB may not be able to play against the Gamecocks.

“He was not going to play last week. We were expecting him back early during the week. I just talked to (LSU’s team trainer), he’s questionable,” Orgeron said. “It’s taking a little bit more time for him to heal. He’s going to be questionable for the game.”

What exactly is the injury holding Brennan back?

“Myles has a significant injury do his lower body, something that we think will heal,” Orgeron added. “Taking longer than we expected to heal. We thought he’d be back today, I don’t know if he’s going to play in this game.”

After three games, Brennan has completed 79 of 131 passes for 1,112 yards with 11 touchdowns and just three interceptions for the Tigers. The Mizzou game was his best performance to date as Brennan completed over 60 percent of his passes for 430 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions.

If Brennan can’t play, LSU has a pair of true freshman quarterbacks to pick from in TJ Finley and Max Johnson.

When is the latest a decision can be made on LSU’s starting QB? Orgeron says the decision will be made after Thursday night’s practice or on Friday morning.
