The NFL Draft is now less than a month away, so teams are finishing up their scouting reports on a number of top college athletes.

Several teams are interested in former LSU RB Derrius Guice, who is widely considered to be the second-best running back in the draft class, behind Penn State’s Saquon Barkley.

On Tuesday, NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks put together a draft profile on Guice, and there were some scouts who had some very positive things to say about him. One NFC personnel director said he’s one of the best pure runners in the draft class:

“I think he’s the best runner in the draft. He’s not the best overall player at the position, but as a runner, it’s hard to find a better one in this class. From his balance, body control, explosiveness and strength, he can do it all with the ball in his hands. … He finishes his runs violently and repeatedly runs through contract. That’s exactly what you want your top running backs to do.”

An AFC scout went as far as to compare Guice to Marshawn Lynch — one of the most powerful runners in recent NFL history:

“I’m a big fan of the kid. It took him a while to get over the injury (in 2017), but I love his relentlessness and refusal to go down when he gets hit. He rarely goes down on first contact and his punishing style kind of reminds me of Marshawn Lynch. I’m not saying he’s ‘Beast Mode’, but the kid is a really good player.”

Whether or not Guice goes in the first round of the draft remains to be seen, but it does appear several teams are interested in taking him on Day 1 of this month’s event.
