LSU coach Ed Orgeron shows a pride for his home state of Louisiana not seen among most other college coaches. Orgeron often speaks openly about his love for the state, and what big moments like the win over Alabama mean to people across the state.

If there’s one person who can relate to that feeling, and express what Orgeron means as a spokesman for the state, it’s political strategist James Carville. Carville is among the most passionate celebrity LSU fans around, and is as amped for the national championship against Clemson as anyone.

“Part of my mission in life is to convince people from Louisiana there’s no outsider that’s going to come in and save us,” Carville said in an interview with WAFB. “It’s always we’re looking for the guy from here, or somebody from there. There’s some outside expertise. The only people that are going to save us, is us. We’re not going to save ourselves unless we have confidence in ourselves. I think what Coach O does is tells everybody from Louisiana, ‘Hey, he’s one of us, and he did this.’ That’s the real lesson that he imparts.”
