LSU went to Los Angeles on Saturday night and ended up losing to UCLA at the Rose Bowl.

Now, many media members and fans are pressing the panic button on the Tigers, who were supposed to bounce back after a tough 2020 season.

On Monday morning, SEC Network host Paul Finebaum joined “McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning” on 94.5 WJOX and discussed what he saw from the Tigers with hosts Greg McElroy and Cole Cubelic:

“I had so many people, Cole, and you know who I’m talking about, who were trying to make me believe LSU was going to take down Alabama,” Finebaum said. “To me, it seemed — and again, I’m flipping around games, so I’m not studying film like you guys — but I saw a lot of the same problems. I saw the defense look clueless at times. I saw 2 new coordinators who underwhelmed me. And I saw a head coach who sometimes has trouble with his mouth getting in the way of reality and I think that’s exactly what happened. LSU’s got some really challenging games. They go to Mississippi State in a couple of weeks. We can argue if State’s real after its opening performance. … That’s a really bad loss to start the season.”

LSU will get a chance to fix some things this weekend against McNeese. Then, the road gets tougher. We’ll see how the Tigers fare moving forward.
