Immediately following LSU’s Sept. 25 announcement that Les Miles was out as head coach, Houston coach Tom Herman was talked about as Miles’ possible replacement.

A new report suggests that a school without an official vacancy may have scooped up Herman before LSU could pry him from Houston:

Texas coach Charlie Strong has not been fired, but reports earlier this month stated Strong was “very close” to losing his job. In an interesting twist, Strong has been linked to the LSU vacancy.

Meanwhile, interim coach Ed Orgeron is doing his best to keep the Tigers from looking at outside options to replace Miles. LSU is 3-0 since Orgeron took over.
