LSU is not pinching pennies when it comes to paying its assistants. The Tigers made defensive coordinator Dave Aranda the highest-paid assistant in college football with a raise to $1.8 million in December, and a new report says that offensive coordinator Matt Canada’s salary isn’t far behind.

Ross Dellenger reports that The Advocate has obtained documents showing that Canada will make $1.5 million, pushing the combined coordinators’ salaries above the $3 million mark. Canada’s predecessor, Cam Cameron, made $1.2 million. Aranda and Cameron made a combined $2.5, also the combined salaries of coordinators at Alabama and Texas A&M.

Canada is signed through the 2019 season (March 2020) with a base salary of $500,000 and $1 million compensation from other sources such as media rights. He and Aranda will make a combined $3.3 million. Head coach Ed Orgeron makes $3.5 million annually.
