The Texas A&M Aggies are searching for a new defensive coordinator, as John Chavis is expected to accept the same position at Arkansas.

However, they’ve been turned down by at least one potential hire, according to a report from The Advocate.

Reporter Ross Dellenger discovered that LSU DC Dave Aranda turned down an offer from the Aggies over the weekend:

Defensive coordinator Dave Aranda spurned a pursuit from Texas A&M over the weekend, choosing to remain with the Tigers ahead of the Citrus Bowl against Notre Dame, multiple sources told The Advocate.

Aranda is making a big salary in Baton Rouge and seems happy with the Tigers, so it’s no surprise he is staying put.

For the Aggies, though, it’s back to the drawing board as new coach Jimbo Fisher tries to fill out his coaching staff.
