Matt Canada’s future as LSU offensive coordinator has been in peril since he drew some criticism from coach Ed Orgeron following the loss to Troy earlier this season.

Now, a report from Football Scoop suggests Canada may be looking for his own exit. A report about the recently opened Rice job said, “We are also told LSU offensive coordinator Matt Canada is seeking an interview.”

That followed a report from college football insider Chris Landry, who said the Canada-Orgeron relationship continued to be strained, and Canada would seek a Group of 5 job after the season.

Orgeron has said if Canada left, he would consider moving Steve Ensminger to the offensive coordinator position for the Tigers’ bowl game.

In Canada’s first year as offensive coordinator, the Tigers were seventh in the SEC in total offense, and ninth in scoring offense.

Canada, an Indiana graduate, was previously the offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at Pittsburgh, N.C. State, Wisconsin and Northern Illinois.
