The LSU Tigers are set to start spring practices on March 7, but when they take the field again, they’ll do so without a star defender.

That’s because star DE Rashard Lawrence recently had surgery and will have to sit out the entire spring to recover.

Per The Advocate, Lawrence had a procedure done on his right knee, but is expected to be ready this summer:

LSU defensive end Rashard Lawrence said Saturday that he will miss spring football practice after recently undergoing surgery on his right knee but is expected to be ready to go when preseason drills begin in August.

Lawrence played in all 13 games last year, recording 54 tackles (10 for a loss) and 4.0 sacks. His presence will be missed this spring.

However, the prognosis is good, and if he’s ready for summer practices, that’s what is more important.
