Steve Spurrier won’t be at tonight’s national title game as he prepares to coach in the Polynesian Bowl in Hawaii.

However, the Head Ball Coach will apparently be watching the game, and he knows what team he’s rooting for in the contest.

Per 247Sports, Spurrier said he’s sticking with the SEC and pulling for LSU tonight:

“I’ll tell you what, I’m really looking forward to watching,” Spurrier said. “These are two teams that know how to win obviously — both are 14-0. One is going to be 15-0, Clemson possibly again. They both know how to win. They aren’t going to beat themselves. Both teams have excellent quarterbacks. As an SEC guy, I have to sort of pull for LSU. Joe Burrow — I got to know him a little bit during high school when he came up there. He’s a wonderful young man and has a good family … It’s really going to be an interesting game to watch.”

Will LSU end up victorious, making Spurrier happy? As a longtime South Carolina (and Florida) coach, Spurrier would probably love to see his former rival lose.
